A Message from Vancouver Safety Surfacing in regard to the COVID-19 Outbreak

Covid-19 Response

COVID-19 otherwise referred to as ‘coronavirus’, is a worldwide pandemic that has spread rapidly across the planet, affecting millions of people. COVID-19 is a highly contagious disease and is spread through human-to-human contact. The Federal Government of Canada has made it clear that self-isolation and social distancing is the best way to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and reduce the impact this pandemic is placing on our public health sector.

We are living in trying and uncertain times and it’s important to listen to our public health officials on how to remain safe. As this current situation unfolds, we understand that life continues. At Vancouver Safety Surfacing, we remain operational for homeowners looking to upgrade their driveways and walkways as they self-isolate. Our establishment prioritizes the health & wellbeing of our customers and our employees above anything else; we would never initiate a project that could jeopardize their welfare.

We are only as strong as the most vulnerable person in our community; therefore, we want all our customers to understand how to properly distance themselves as the disease spreads.

3 Social Distancing Tips:

  • Stay home and leave only for essential purposes (i.e. grocery shopping, picking up medication, etc.)
  • If you must converse to another person, do so via telephone call or virtual conference (i.e. Skype, Facetime, etc.)
  • Avoid visiting the homes of your family and friends- social gatherings and ‘hangouts’ can escalate the spread of COVID-19

The Importance of Social Distancing

As previously stated, COVID-19 is a highly contagious disease. Asymptomatic people who carry the disease may spread it to other people because they don’t know they have it. Anyone that has contracted COVID-19 has the potential to spread the disease through their sneezes and coughs. The virus can also be contracted through direct contact with surfaces that have been compromised. Social distancing, which is staying 6 feet apart from the nearest person at stores and at home, will reduce the chances of the disease being spread.

Protecting Vulnerable Persons

Flattening the curve includes protecting elderly people and individuals with compromised immune systems. Here are some things to keep in mind to protect susceptible individuals.

  • If you feel you may be getting sick, stay home!
  • If you’ve returned to Canada from the US or any foreign country in the last 14 days, you must self-isolate in your home.
  • Refrain from visiting with grandparents and other elderly relatives
  • Wash your hands and use hand sanitizer frequently
  • Refrain from touching your face, especially your eyes, mouth, and nose.

Vancouver Safety Surfacing is committed to being a community leader in a time of such uneasiness. Please, take care of yourself and practice self-isolating and social distancing when you can.
